An explosion on Kings­bridge Drive killed five peo­ple when a gas pres­sure main frac­tured, de­stroy­ing four houses.

An el­derly couple were res­cued from cer­tain death when three lo­cal work­ers hauled them from a blaz­ing ten­e­ment.

A fresh ap­peal for a pel­i­can cross­ing on east Main Street was be­ing made by lo­cal pen­sion­ers, de­spite the roads depart­ment claim­ing that there was not suf­fi­cient old peo­ple cross­ing the road there to jus­tify it.

Gov­ern­ments cut­backs were set to force the clo­sure of the Day Care Cen­tre in Castlemilk, which left the lo­cal com­mu­nity stunned.

A Castlemilk fam­ily were un­able to move into their home on Ar­den­craig Road be­cause there was no fire and the bath was bro­ken.
