Coun­cil con­tracts

South La­nark­shire Coun­cil’s com­mu­nity re­sources depart­ment awarded a £ 2.4mil­lion con­tract to nine com­pa­nies to in­stall play­parks.

The de­tails of the deal were in­cluded in pa­pers for the com­mu­nity and en­ter­prise re­course com­mit­tee on Tues­day.

The pa­per lists all con­tracts over £50,000 awarded by the depart­ment be­tween April and Septem­ber.

Among the con­trac­tors are Ca­ley Con­struc­tion, Co­van­burn Con­tracts Ltd and the coun­cil’s own ground ser­vices team.

Coun­cil­lors also ap­proved a £ 1.653m con­tract for the pro­vi­sion of wheelie bins to SSI Scheaf­fer Ltd, start­ing in May this year and run­ning un­til the end of next Oc­to­ber.

In to­tal, the depart­ment awarded con­tracts worth £ 7.1m dur­ing the sum­mer.

A list of en­ter­prise ser­vice con­tracts was also given to coun­cil­lors this week.

The list in­cluded £1.29m worth of con­tracts, the big­gest be­ing £ 900,000 to Ewing Con­struc­tion Ser­vices for the main­te­nance of coun­cil struc­tures.
