The Halfway community ignored some fairly horrible weather to enjoy the annual Christmas lights switch- on, organised by Particip8.

The event once again proved a massive success as the area was turned into a winter wonderland on Saturday, November 28.

Crowds were entertained by the Salvation Army band as well as kids from Hallside Primary and Park View Primary, who sang festive favourites.

It was left to Santa himself to turn on the lights.

Among the crowd were Margaret Ferrier MP and Councillor Walter Brogan.

Gilly Feron, chair of Particip8, said: “Despite the weather, the Christmas lights switch-on at Halfway was a great afternoon.

“Thanks to everyone who came long to make it a great day, including the schoolkids who sang in the choir and, of course, Santa Claus who helped make sure that everyone had a fun time.

“Thanks to Councillor Brogan and the Particip8 committee for helping to organise the afternoon.”
