A fam­ily who’d been af­fected by the gas blast on Kings­bridge Drive that killed five of their neigh­bours and de­stroyed their house were left try­ing to pick up the pieces of their shat­tered lives.

Fright­ened res­i­dents of Kings­bridge Drive went to court to try and stop the No 60 bus, the weight of which was blamed for the dev­as­tat­ing gas explosion.

Around 60 jobs were cre­ated in Ruther­glen af­ter David Men­zies and co opened a new £2mil­lion fac­tory in Pol­madie Road.

A Ruther­glen man and his daugh­ter es­caped death by sec­onds when a car crashed through their gar­den in West­muir Place.

A cal­lous thief robbed a 78-year-old woman of £20 af­ter con­ning his way into her Green­hill Road home.
