Po­lice and pupils have crimes cards marked

Ruther­glen Po­lice have taken a fes­tive ap­proach to keep­ing school chil­dren safe this Christ­mas.

The force have been de­liv­er­ing Christ­mas cards, de­signed by pupils, near lo­cal schools re­mind­ing those nearby to keep their eyes open for any­thing sus­pi­cious.

The fo­cus has been on Calder­wood Pri­mary in Ruther­glen and Park View Pri­mary in Cam­bus­lang.

PC Greg Rober­ton, of the safer com­mu­ni­ties depart­ment, said:“As al­ways, our lo­cal crime preven­tion panel go that ex­tra mile to help our lo­cal com­mu­nity by pro­vid­ing in­for­ma­tion on crime preven­tion mea­sures.

“The cards, made by chil­dren from both schools, dis­played a mes­sage within - keep our school safe this Christ­mas and were de­signed for prop­er­ties over­look­ing schools to keep an eye on the school whilst the chil­dren enjoy their fes­tive break.

“In the past this ini­tia­tive has been very ef­fec­tive.

“The cards were hand made by the chil­dren and the panel even said they were some of the best they have ever seen.

“Sin­cere thanks go to the panel for dis­tribut­ing the cards and to both schools for tak­ing part in this worth­while com­mu­nity led ini­tia­tive.”
