Rutherglen and Cambuslang area committee has‘granted’members of a local community a night at the musicals.

St Cadoc’s Women’s Guild was recently awarded a £250 community grant to enjoy a theatre outing at Rutherglen Town Hall.

The group, which meets regularly in St Cadoc’s Church hall, provides a hub for older residents in the Cambuslang and Halfway areas to come together socially.

Councillor Russell Clearie and Councillor Richard Tullett, chair and depute chair of the committee, went along to a meeting recently to hand over the‘big cheque’.

Councillor Clearie said:“I am always delighted to come along to groups like this and give out funds for a night out or day trip.

“For so many in our communities, these events provide a social lifeline improving quality of life and decreasing loneliness and isolation.

“A good night out with friends can make such a difference and I am proud that we can play a part in making that happen.”
