With so much going on at this time of year it’s easy to let things slip your mind and South Lanarkshire Council is urging tenants not to forget to pay their rent over the festive period.
The council is running a campaign to remind people of the importance of keeping their rent up to date and to direct them to the help they can receive if they find themselves behind with their payments.
Annette Finnan, head of area services, said:“The vast majority of our tenants pay their rent on time, which we appreciate greatly. Not all of them find it easy, but they still manage it. To those who do not pay on time, our message is clear: your rent must be paid – you can’t opt out and we will take action against you.
“There are many reasons why people miss their rent payments, but these reasons affect people who do pay, too. We know times are hard for everyone, but it is vital to make sure you keep a roof over you and your family’s heads. What people need to remember is, the council can help. Even if things seem desperate, it is surprising how it can make a big difference to discuss it with the council and find out about the assistance available.” Call the council on 0303 123 1012.
