MSP Kelly blasts budget
The MSP for Rutherglen and Cambuslang has said the people of his constituency “deserve much better” as the Scottish Government approves its budget for 2016/17.
James Kelly MSP said cuts enforced by the Scottish Government would have a direct impact on local people.
During the budget debate last week, Mr Kelly said the Scottish Government should use its new powers to halt the cuts and invest in local services, by setting the Scottish rate of income tax 1 penny higher than George Osborne, to generate and additional £100m.
He added: “These cuts from the SNP are completely unacceptable and people in this constituency deserve much better. Instead of cuts to local services we could have used the parliament’s new powers to make different tax choices.”
