Rutherglen will host an event celebrating International Women’s Day.
Residents will be able to enjoy workshops on health, beauty, arts and crafts as well as employment and learning at St Columbkille’s Hall.
The event is being run by South Lanarkshire Council’s community learning and home school partnership.
International Women’s Day 2016 will take place on Wednesday, March 8. This year’s theme is #PledgeForParity. In 2014, the World Economic Forum predicted it would be2095 before global gender parity is achieved. But just a year later, they estimated that a slowdown in the pace of progress meant it could be 2133 before the gap is closed entirely.
Everyone - men and women - can pledge to take a concrete step to help achieve gender parity more quickly - whether to help women and girls achieve their ambitions, call for gender-balanced leadership, respect and value difference, develop more inclusive and flexible cultures or root out workplace bias.
The event will run from 11.30am to 2.30pm.
