Community organisations, charities, and those they help in Cambuslang and Rutherglen are being asked to submit nominations for volunteers who have gone above and beyond the call of duty in the past year.

There are five award categories: Volunteer of the Year, Young Volunteer of the Year, Long-Serving Volunteer, Environmental Volunteer of the Year and Trustee/Board Member of the Year.

Jenny Gemmell, of voluntary sector support body VASLan, which is hosting the awards, said: “Volunteering makes such a vast difference to quality of life in our communities everyday.

“We hope the Volunteering Awards go a small way towards raising awareness of the hugely positive impact volunteers make, while also saying a very important thank you to volunteers themselves.”

Nomination forms are available at www. vaslan. org.uk and the closing date is April 19.
