A talented Cambuslang teenager is hoping local businesses or groups can help her fulfil her dream of attending a prestigious Italian opera school this summer.

Anna Heywood, of Kirkburn Avenue, has been invited to showcase her incredible talent at the Italian Opera School in Bari this summer.

We reported in the Reformer two weeks ago that Cambuslang Rotary Club had helped fund £250 of the £800 Anna needs to complete the trip.

The 18-year-old Glasgow University student said:“It’s a really amazing opportunity. I’ve been to Italy with my family on holiday, but I’ve never done anything like this.

“I’m studying history and Italian at university so it will be a chance to work on my studies as well. I’m so excited, I can’t wait.

“The course is normally something that bridges the gap between a post graduate degree and becoming an opera singer. It’s such a tremendous honour.”

Anyone who thinks they can help her out can get in touch with Anna via email at anna.heywood@hotmail. com or give the Reformer a call .
