Cambus need to spring shock
Cambuslang Rugby Club coach Robbie Stewart has insisted his side have the hardest run- in going into the final four games of the season.
Cambus host unbeaten league leaders Glasgow Academicals at Coats Park on Saturday in their first match for five weeks.
Speaking to the Reformer this week, Stewart admitted that the club needed to spring a shock in their final few games to have a chance of avoiding relegation.
He said: “Accies have just beaten Newton Stewart and Carrick who are the teams vying for promotion.
“They’ll come to Coats Park knowing that if other results go their way, they can secure the league title on Saturday.
“We’ve not had a game for a few weeks but we’ve kept training and we’ve had a reasonable turnout from the boys. We couldn’t have picked a tougher game to test our fitness.
“In my view, we have the toughest run in. We play Accies then Newton Stewart who are the two teams at the top. We then play Oban Lorne and we’ll have a crunch game against Garnock but we’ll need to spring a shock against Oban or one of the top teams.
“We are still far from out of the relegation battle but I think two teams will go down this season.”
