Rowdy pair deny strug­gle with po­lice

A rowdy pair who al­legedly caused a dis­tur­bance on Ruther­glen Main Street are ac­cused of strug­gling with po­lice, with one charged with po­lice as­sault.

Lau­rence McConville, of Drum­re­och Drive, To­ry­glen, and Steven Kerr, of Old Dal­marnock Road, Bridgeton, are ac­cused of shout­ing and swear­ing on Main Street on Au­gust 2, 2015.

They are also charged with hin­der­ing two po­lice of­fi­cers in ex­e­cu­tion of their duty by strug­gling vi­o­lently with them.

Lau­rence, 18, is ac­cused of as­sault­ing a po­lice of­fi­cer by re­peat­edly seiz­ing hold of him, pulling him and throw­ing him to the foot well of a ve­hi­cle and re­peat­edly at­tempt­ing to strike him on the body.

McConville and Kerr, 24, pleaded not guilty to the charges when they ap­peared at Glas­gow Sher­iff Court on Tues­day, March 1.

They will stand trial on April 5.
