Rowdy pair deny struggle with police

A rowdy pair who allegedly caused a disturbanc­e on Rutherglen Main Street are accused of struggling with police, with one charged with police assault.

Laurence McConville, of Drumreoch Drive, Toryglen, and Steven Kerr, of Old Dalmarnock Road, Bridgeton, are accused of shouting and swearing on Main Street on August 2, 2015.

They are also charged with hindering two police officers in execution of their duty by struggling violently with them.

Laurence, 18, is accused of assaulting a police officer by repeatedly seizing hold of him, pulling him and throwing him to the foot well of a vehicle and repeatedly attempting to strike him on the body.

McConville and Kerr, 24, pleaded not guilty to the charges when they appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Tuesday, March 1.

They will stand trial on April 5.
