Top prices for clas­sics

Clas­sic Land Rovers have sold for a to­tal of more than £100,000 at auc­tion only weeks af­ter the com­pany stopped pro­duc­tion of the leg­endary De­fender.

The three ve­hi­cles went un­der the ham­mer at the Prac­ti­cal Clas­sics Restora­tion and Clas­sic Car Show at the NEC in Birm­ing­ham.In the sale, staged by Sil­ver­stone Auc­tions, one of the ear­li­est Land Rovers to be built, a 1948 Se­ries One bear­ing the chas­sis num­ber 149, sold for £47,250. One of the last De­fend­ers – a 2016 110 Her­itage Edi­tion and one of only 400 made – went for £42,188 and a rare 1950 Se­ries One Sta­tion Wagon with coach­work by Tick­ford, sold for £38,250 – a world record price.
