TV’s Steven battling on

Rutherglen Reformer - - News -

Jim’s story could have come straight from the TV Netflix series, Making a Murderer.

The programme follows the trials of Steven Avery, who served 18 years in prison for a wrongful conviction for sexual assault.

After his release in 2003, Avery filed a civil lawsuit for $36million in damages against Manitowoc County, its sheriff, and its district attorney. But while waiting for the case to be heard, Avery was arrested for the brutal murder of photographer Teresa Halbach.

He was convicted in 2007 and sentenced to life imprisonment without parole.

Making a Murderer posed a number of questions about Avery’s conviction and those involved. Unlike Jim’s case, however, these crimes certainly took place.

Murderer? Steven Avery is currently serving life without parole for the brutal killing of Teresa Halbach
