Billy’s ex-band aid
Fashionistas are invited to a runway show at a special event in Rutherglen today.
Featuring clothing from high street store M&Co, the fashion show is being hosted by the Go Ahead Club at Rutherglen United Reformed Church.
It will be held at the church hall at 2pm on Wednesday, March 30.
Tickets cost £2.50 and can be bought at the door. A former folk band partner to Billy Connolly is to head up a new arts and music event in Rutherglen.
Brushstrokes & Ballads will see original art , paintings, sketches, poems, ballads, folk music and foot- tapping singalongs staged at The Friendship Cafe in Rutherglen West and Wardlawhill Church.
Headed up by musician Watt Nicoll, the event will bring together a fusion of music and art created locally.
Starting on Friday, April 1, guests - who are invited to take their own bottle - will be greeted with cheese and refreshments as they are given the opportunity to look at the art work and bid for any works they want to take home. The art donning the walls will provide the musical inspiration for the night as Watt will weave the artist’s themes into the fabric of the songs and ballads performed.
Proceeds will be donated to the Beatson Cancer Charity and will be bolstered by the sale of art, as artists have agreed to donate a percentage of the sale to the charity.
