Rutherglen shop named finalist in inaugural Scotland on Stage Awards
A family shop which has kitted out Rutherglen dancers in the finest costumes for a generation has been named a finalist in the first ever Scotland on Stage Awards.
Fitness Fashions in Farme Cross is one of 10 retailers shortlisted in the best dance shop supplier category.
Owned by Gail and Alistair Dick, the shop won public votes to secure its place in the final.
Up against several other shops from across Scotland, Fitness Fashions has garnered a reputation as the largest supplier of ballroom and Latin dance shoes in the country.
A favourite amongst ballroom, Latin, ballet and contemporary dancers, Fitness Fashions was opened 27 years ago by dance lover, Gail’s mother Jeanette Bennett.
It will be reviewed by an expert panel of judges before the winner of the best dance shop supplier award is named at a glittering ceremony at the Radisson Hotel Glasgow on April 24.
A total of 18 awards will be handed out at the Scotland on Stage Awards, set up to reward the musical, theatrical and dance community throughout Scotland.
