Ruther­glen shop named fi­nal­ist in in­au­gu­ral Scot­land on Stage Awards

A fam­ily shop which has kit­ted out Ruther­glen dancers in the finest cos­tumes for a gen­er­a­tion has been named a fi­nal­ist in the first ever Scot­land on Stage Awards.

Fit­ness Fash­ions in Farme Cross is one of 10 re­tail­ers short­listed in the best dance shop sup­plier cat­e­gory.

Owned by Gail and Alis­tair Dick, the shop won pub­lic votes to se­cure its place in the fi­nal.

Up against sev­eral other shops from across Scot­land, Fit­ness Fash­ions has gar­nered a rep­u­ta­tion as the largest sup­plier of ball­room and Latin dance shoes in the coun­try.

A favourite amongst ball­room, Latin, bal­let and con­tem­po­rary dancers, Fit­ness Fash­ions was opened 27 years ago by dance lover, Gail’s mother Jeanette Ben­nett.

It will be re­viewed by an ex­pert panel of judges be­fore the win­ner of the best dance shop sup­plier award is named at a glit­ter­ing cer­e­mony at the Radis­son Ho­tel Glas­gow on April 24.

A to­tal of 18 awards will be handed out at the Scot­land on Stage Awards, set up to re­ward the mu­si­cal, the­atri­cal and dance com­mu­nity through­out Scot­land.
