One week to go until compulsory chipping

Rutherglen Reformer - - News -

Days before microchipping becomes compulsory in Scotland, Rutherglen MP Margaret Ferrier is reminding locals to get their dog chipped and help keep them safe.

Margaret teamed up with Dogs Trust, the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, to raise awareness of microchipping law changes coming into effect on Wednesday, April 6.

Free chipping is available by appointment at the Dogs Trust rehoming centre on Hamilton Road in Uddingston.

Ms Ferrier MP said: “I know how much my constituents love their dogs, and microchipping is a fantastic way of being reunited with your four-legged friend in the awful scenario that they should become separated. Most dogs in Rutherglen and Cambuslang are already chipped, but if yours isn’t then please make sure you get it done before the law comes into force next week.”
