Estate agent takeover

Rutherglen Reformer - - Gossip Girl -

An estate agent that has operated in Rutherglen for over 130 years has been taken over by new management.

Margaret Reid and Lesley Hurst have been recruited as the managing directors at Macallans: solicitors/estate agents.

The business on Stonelaw Road formed in 1883 and operated from offices in Main Street, Rutherglen, before relocating to its current office in Burnside.

Margaret, who was employed by the partnership of Macallans for nine years, together with her friend, Lesley, took over at Macallans in October last year.

Lesley said:“I am delighted to have taken over the business of Macallans with my university friend, Margaret Reid, and particularly as the former partners, Diane Adam and Ian Grant, have continued with the company as consultants, thus ensuring continuity of business for our clients. It is a pleasure to be part of such an established firm in the local community.

“Having worked in Macallans for the last nine years I am delighted now to have the opportunity of taking over the business with Lesley Hurst.

“I am very much looking forward to continuing to act for the local community.”
