Voodoo Room will cast its spell over rock fans

Rutherglen Reformer - - The Ticket - Lynn McKenna

Paying homage to two of the most commanding names in rock history, “Jimi Hendrix” and “Cream”, Voodoo Room take to the stage at Motherwell Theatre to deliver a mighty, retro, rocking machine.

Voodoo Room deliver a fullon show that features all of your favourite Hendrix and Cream tunes, performed with an energy and virtuosity that transcends tribute band status.

This is definitively NOT a wig-wearing, dress-up, pantomime-style tribute band – rather, it is simply great music performed by great musicians, Peter Orr, John Tonks and Andy Tolman.

Virtuoso guitarist Orr’s jaw dropping solos and epic vocal stylings, have wowed all those lucky enough to experience this new life within the late-sixties classics around the UK and Europe for 30 years.

Tolman has played live bass for the likes of Ben E King and Rodriguez, whilst also fulfilling many a music enthusiast’s dream by participating in a recording session with legendary Beatles producer, George Martin, who passed away recently.

Drummer Tonks is a leading session musician with impressive touring and recording credits, including diverse acts, such as Duran Duran, The Streets and Steve Winwood.

They perform an incredible high energy show, delivered in the true spirit of these legendary superstars.

Their individual credits include: Steve Winwood, Duran Duran, Ben E. King, Fish, Thunder, Thea Gilmore and Lulu.

With standing ovations the norm, Voodoo Room have received praise from the likes of Neneh Cherry and Blues in the South Magazine.

Word on the street is that the show is not be missed. Don’t miss the opportunity to experience the thrill of this musical ride, covering all your favourites, such as “Sunshine of your love”, “Voodoo Child”, “Purple Haze” “Crossroads” and “I Feel Free.”

Cream were a 1960s British rock supergroup power trio consisting of bassist/singer Jack Bruce, drummer Ginger Baker, and guitarist/singer Eric Clapton.

The band made a significant impact on the popular music of the time along with Jimi Hendrix.

Voodoo Room will perform live at Motherwell Theatre on Friday 20 May 2016 at 7.30pm.
