Scrap bedroom tax

Rutherglen Reformer - - News -

People should be able to live in decent, affordable homes in a nice environment – but I see more and more people finding difficulty in getting local housing.

The first priority is more houses.

Liberal Democrats will increase the number of affordable homes built over the next five years – with 40,000 for social rent rather than sale.

Locally, the new houses in Fernhill and Cathkin show what can be done – and affordable heating costs are a key part of the package. We will expand action to tackle fuel poverty and improve the energy efficiency of homes.

The“bedroom tax”must be dumped.

In areas like Springhall, the environment has become neglected – bin shelters, close mouths, painting, back courts, need attention.

Good tenants are entitled to see firm action by housing managers to make sure everyone plays their part.
