Grants for buyers

Rutherglen Reformer - - News -

Housing is the biggest issue that I have dealt with in nine years as MSP for the Rutherglen constituency.

The cases range from local people staying in overcrowded or inadequate housing to landlords putting rents up to unacceptable levels.

The crisis has been escalated by SNP cuts to budgets and a complacent attitude, resulting in 150,000 people on social housing waiting lists.

Local people in Rutherglen and Cambuslang need a plan that builds new homes and supports tenants in private rented accommodation.

Labour have a positive action plan for housing to reduce waiting lists by building 60,000 new homes, creating jobs.

We will help first-time buyers with a £6000 grant and act against rip-off landlords by capping rent increases.

People deserve decent and affordable housing. A vote for Labour in this election will achieve this.
