Tide turning our way
Liberal Democrat candidate Robert Brown says he can sense a“definite change in the mood” as the campaign progresses.
He has held street stalls and delivered thousands of leaflets in the lead-up to May 5.
Mr Brown, who is also the lead Lib Dem candidate on the Glasgow list, said:“I am pleasantly surprised and impressed at the people who voted SNP last year who say they won’t do so again. I believe quite a few of them are coming over to the Liberal Democrats. It is striking how many people are unhappy with the performance of the SNP government.
“People are aware of the cut of 152,000 college places since the SNP came to power, of the challenges in the schools due to teacher and support staff cuts, of the growing GP and NHS crisis and of the way police centralisation was botched.
“That’s why the Liberal Democrat offer of nearly £500 million to transform education is so powerful, paid for by a penny on income tax. It is substantial and bold and it contrasts with the timid way the SNP have refused to use the new tax powers they have shouted about for so long.
“We have had a good campaign launch both in Rutherglen and across Scotland. We have run a positive, uplifting, optimistic campaign based on a bold package of progressive policies.”
