- Staff reporter

Drivers in Rutherglen will soon be able to pay for their parking with their credit or debit card.

South Lanarkshire Council are proposing to introduce the service from May 16.

It will affect all pay parking bays in the region, including the only one in Rutherglen and Cambuslang, at Regent Drive serving Rutherglen train station.

South Lana r k s h i re Council head of roads and transportation, Gordon Mackay said: “The proposal affects all council car parks where charges currently apply.

“The amendment to the order allows the council to accept payment by means of a card as well as coins.

“The only charging car park in Rutherglen and Cambuslang is the one off Regent Drive, adjacent to the railway station.

“There are no proposals to introduce charges in any other council car parks at this time.”

Residents are being invited to comment on the plans, which can be viewed at 27 Main Street in Cambuslang or 169 Main Street in Rutherglen.
