Rutherglen and Cambuslang police officers have a new area commander and community inspector at the helm.

Chief Inspector Gillian Scott has been appointed as the new area commander for East Kilbride, Rutherglen and Cambuslang following the departure of Pat O’Callaghan.

CI Scott joined the police in 1988 and spent the first ten years of her career patrolling the Pollok and Govan areas of Glasgow.

She was promoted to sergeant in 1998 and worked in the North Lanarkshire area for six years.

In 2005 CI Scott became an inspector and worked within safer communities at a force level.

She was transferred to the South Lanarkshire area in 2007, where she undertook the role of response inspector, and subsequently was a community policing inspector in Hamilton for several years.

CI Scott said: “I am delighted to be appointed the area commander of East Kilbride, Rutherglen and Cambuslang.

“I would like to thank Chief Inspector Pat O’Callaghan for all his hard work over the last three years, which have provided me with a very successful sub- division to manage.

“I look forward to policing this area and meeting the community and the elected members.

“I will continue to provide an effective and flexible police service with the aim of meeting the wide and varied demands of this community.

“I would encourage members of the public to continue to report issues of concern to the police in order that we may address them.”
