Ruther­glen and Cam­bus­lang po­lice of­fi­cers have a new area com­man­der and com­mu­nity in­spec­tor at the helm.

Chief In­spec­tor Gil­lian Scott has been ap­pointed as the new area com­man­der for East Kil­bride, Ruther­glen and Cam­bus­lang fol­low­ing the de­par­ture of Pat O’Cal­laghan.

CI Scott joined the po­lice in 1988 and spent the first ten years of her ca­reer pa­trolling the Pol­lok and Go­van ar­eas of Glas­gow.

She was pro­moted to sergeant in 1998 and worked in the North La­nark­shire area for six years.

In 2005 CI Scott be­came an in­spec­tor and worked within safer com­mu­ni­ties at a force level.

She was trans­ferred to the South La­nark­shire area in 2007, where she un­der­took the role of re­sponse in­spec­tor, and sub­se­quently was a com­mu­nity polic­ing in­spec­tor in Hamil­ton for sev­eral years.

CI Scott said: “I am de­lighted to be ap­pointed the area com­man­der of East Kil­bride, Ruther­glen and Cam­bus­lang.

“I would like to thank Chief In­spec­tor Pat O’Cal­laghan for all his hard work over the last three years, which have pro­vided me with a very suc­cess­ful sub- di­vi­sion to man­age.

“I look for­ward to polic­ing this area and meet­ing the com­mu­nity and the elected mem­bers.

“I will con­tinue to pro­vide an ef­fec­tive and flex­i­ble po­lice ser­vice with the aim of meet­ing the wide and var­ied de­mands of this com­mu­nity.

“I would en­cour­age mem­bers of the pub­lic to con­tinue to re­port is­sues of con­cern to the po­lice in or­der that we may ad­dress them.”
