Po­lice as­sault charge de­nied

A Half­way man has been charged with as­sault­ing a po­lice of­fi­cer, ut­ter­ing ho­mo­pho­bic re­marks and punch­ing the wing mir­ror of a car.

Christo­pher Thom­son, 28, is ac­cused of dam­ag­ing the car on Hamil­ton Road, Cam­bus­lang, on Novem­ber 7, 2015 and of be­hav­ing in a threat­en­ing and abu­sive man­ner while on route to East Kil­bride po­lice of­fice. He is also ac­cused of ob­struct­ing and hin­der­ing two po­lice of­fi­cers in ex­e­cu­tion of their duty while at the sta­tion and fur­ther of as­sault­ing one PC by re­peat­edly at­tempt­ing to butt him with his head and kick him on the body.

Thom­son, of Hamil­ton Road, de­nied all charges when he ap­peared at Glas­gow Sher­iff Court on Wed­nes­day, April 13 and will re­turn for an in­ter­me­di­ate trial diet on May 4.
