Although some of the mem­bers will be turn­ing their at­ten­tion to out­door bowls, a group of car­pet bowlers stay on and keep the game go­ing.

Last month a draw was made for the sin­gles ties and some games have been played.

Ian Barr lost to John Dick­son, Bill Todd was up against John McCabe and won be­fore John Sin­clair was beaten by Jim Rid­dell.

In other games Jim Rid­dell de­feated John Dick­son with the last bowl.

Jack Hal­l­i­day won against Colin McKin­non but was then de­feated by Bill Todd.

The win­ner of the ag­gre­gate has been an­nounced as John McCabe who was so far ahead on points that no­body could catch him.

If any­one would like to try car­pet bowls, an in­vi­ta­tion is ex­tended to turn up at any ses­sion and throw a few bowls free of charge.

The club AGM and buf­fet will be held on May 4 at 1pm. Ladies open­ing game took place at Half­way and District Bowl­ing Club last Satur­day and de­spite the in­clement weather, a great day was had by all.

Bingo re­placed the bowls as Au­drey Stod­dart wel­comed mem­bers, vis­i­tors and guests.

A so­cial evening fol­lowed with en­ter­tain­ment pro­vided by Billy Mered­ith.

This week­end the club are hold­ing Try Bowls events on Satur­day and Sun­day af­ter­noon.

All are wel­come and mem­bers are en­cour­aged to in­vite fam­ily and friends along to give bowls a try.

Those who do not know any mem­bers of the club are also warmly in­vited to have a game. Half price mem­ber­ships are avail­able for new mem­bers and un­der 16s are free.

Con­grat­u­la­tions to David Fer­gus who has once again been se­lected for La­nark­shire South in the An­drew Hamil­ton Tro­phy.

The trial game against La­nark­shire West will take place at 6.30pm on Fri­day, May 6 at Houldsworth.

The sheets for the ladies and gents knock­out com­pe­ti­tions are in the club­house.

En­tries will close on Sun­day evening and the ties will be drawn early next week.

The sheets are now on the bowls house no­tice­board for the first few tour­na­ments of the year.

Mixed pairs ( spon­sored by Robert Dick) will take place on Satur­day, May 7 with a 10am start.

The two bowl pairs ( spon­sored by Cur­leys Butch­ers) takes place on May 14 at noon. The McPike 1+1 Pairs takes place on Sun­day, May 22 at 10am.

Th­ese tourne­ments are open to all mem­bers.
