Brown senses change in the wind

Rutherglen Reformer - - News - Edel Kenealy

Rutherglen Liberal Democrat Scottish Parliament candidate Robert Brown and his campaign team hit local streets in force at the weekend.

Street stalls in Rutherglen Main Street, Burnside Shopping Centre and Croftfoot roundabout on Saturday morning were followed by doorstepping voters across Spittal, Blairbeth, Burnside, Cathkin and Bankhead.

Robert Brown, who has spoken at nine hustings, said:“We are getting a growing response to the Liberal Democrat campaign in Rutherglen, with a really encouraging number of people telling us they’ve already voted for us on the postal vote.

“Many people clearly feel that they can’t wait for the SNP to sort out the problems. After nine years of SNP government, we are left with immense and growing problems in schools, colleges and the NHS.

“We are finding a lot of support in particular for our plans to invest a penny on income tax in reversing the SNP cuts and transforming schools, colleges and early years.

“The new powers coming to the Scottish Parliament makes the next parliament one of real opportunity. We can and should use these new powers for transformational change in Scotland.“

Stepping Up Robert Brown said he will be working hard to secure as many local votes as possible in the coming days
