Com­mu­nity coun­cil­lors in Cam­bus­lang have called for a meet­ing with po­lice chiefs weeks af­ter it was re­vealed their town pro­duces a high num­ber of young crim­i­nals.

The Re­former re­vealed last month that Cam­bus­lang’s G72 post­code came sec­ond in a league ta­ble of ar­eas that pro­duce the most young of­fend­ers.

Cov­er­ing Cam­bus­lang and Blan­tyre, the G72 post­code saw 90 peo­ple aged 16 to 21 jailed at Pol­mont Young Of­fend­ers In­sti­tute be­tween 2012 and 2015.

The fig­ures were de­scribed as “shocking” by Michelle Farmer of Cam­bus­lang Com­mu­nity Coun­cil.

She said: “I thought we needed to do some­thing about this.

“On the sur­vey we did last year, what came up was the fact that a lot of peo­ple were con­cerned about anti- so­cial be­hav­iour and some young peo­ple were fright­ened to go to some shops be­cause
