Walk­ing group seeks mem­bers

A new walk­ing group for el­derly peo­ple is hop­ing to at­tract new mem­bers.

The Se­nior Strollers are for over 60s and meet on Tues­day morn­ings for a walk around Over­toun Park.

The group is run by Friends of Over­toun Park vol­un­teers and is part of Paths For All – a na­tional char­ity which man­ages the Walk­ing for Health pro­gramme in Scot­land.

Walk leader, Les­ley Robb said: “Walk­ing gives you all the key health ben­e­fits lead­ing to health­ier heart, s t ronger bones, and in­creased flex­i­bil­ity.

“Ex­er­cise has a great ef­fect on your con­di­tion. It helps cir­cu­la­tion, send­ing fresh oxy­gen to your brain more quickly.

“Walk­ing is a safe ac­tiv­ity. Es­pe­cially for those who have not been ac­tive for some time. You can make new friends and feel part of your lo­cal com­mu­nity.”

All abil­i­ties are catered for and the group walk from 10.30-11.30am.
