Young poets work to be published

Rutherglen Reformer - - News -

There were smiles all round at St Bartholomew’s Primary School when young poets learned their work is to be published.

Several pupils in P3 recently learned their poems about ‘My Cool School’ will feature in the Sense Poetry - Amazing Sensations book.

The youngsters who entered the Young Writers’ National Sense Poetry competition will see their work in print when the book is published on May 31 and sent to library’s around the UK.

Pupils in P2 have also shone in their latest project where they learned how to make a digital book with a little help from their friends at Caledonian University.

Staff and student mentors from the university’s schools outreach programme - The Caledonian Club - worked with all P2 pupils to create an online digital book complete with animation, narration and sound effects provided by the pupils.

The children chose the circus as their topic and created all the art work themselves with help and support of their student mentors.

Parents and family members also got to share in the wonderful work when they attended the showcase and official launch of the online book.
