Way clear for housing plans
agreement has been reached with a housing developer set to build 244 homes in Cambuslang for a financial contribution to improving local facilities.
persimmons are proposing 232 detached, semi-detached and terraced units as well as a four-storey block of 12 flats on greenlees Road, across from Kirkhill golf Club.
Councillors granted planning permission in February despite concerns from those living nearby about drainage and the siting of a proposed recreational area.
the decision was rubberstamped by officers last week.
pauline Elliott, south Lanarkshire Council’s executive director of planning and economic development said: “although the planning committee approved the granting of conditional planning permission earlier this year, consent could not be granted until the details of a legal agreement with the applicant were finalised and the agreement signed.
“this agreement relates to a financial contribution from the developers for the improvement/upgrading of educational, community facilities and affordable housing in the area and the cost of off-site drainage works.”
the plans also include a new roundabout and access road from greenlees Road.
plans are also in place for an area of open space and other,“informal”open spaces and footpath links.
