Resur­fac­ing work shuts roads

Mo­torists through Ruther­glen are fac­ing two weeks of queues and de­lays with vi­tal routes be­ing closed for resur­fac­ing.

the east­bound lane of Cam­bus­lang Road will shut to traf­fic be­tween Hamilton Road and Bogles­hole Road at mid­night on Mon­day, June 27.

It will re-open at mid­night on sun­day, July 3.

the al­ter­na­tive route will be via B768 Main street, a749 stonelaw Road and B762 Dukes Road, Ruther­glen.

Farmeloan Road will then be closed in both directions be­tween Cam­bus­lang Road and Ruther­glen Main street from mid­night on Mon­day, July 4, un­til mid­night on sun­day, July 10.

the work is part of south La­nark­shire Coun­cil’s on­go­ing roads im­prove­ment plan.

Chair of south La­nark­shire Coun­cil’s en­ter­prise ser­vices com­mit­tee, Coun­cil­lor Chris thomp­son, said:“these works are es­sen­tial to im­prove the road sur­faces at these lo­ca­tions.

“un­for­tu­nately, it can­not be done with­out some dis­rup­tion to road users and we apol­o­gise for that.”

and Coun­cil­lor thomp­son con­cluded: “We would ad­vise peo­ple to avoid the area if at all pos­si­ble, or if not to try and en­sure they al­low them­selves ex­tra time for their jour­ney.”
