Going loopy for lunch
Rutherglen residents are being invited to enjoy their lunch at Cuningar Loop this weekend.
Forest Enterprise Scotland will host their Big Lunch event on Sunday, June 12.
Families and the local community are encouraged to pack a picnic and enjoy a day out at the newly opened woodland park.
Activities will include storytelling with Golden Frog and his friends and self-led treasure hunts through the forest, with clues to help people learn about the trees, plants and animals that live in the park.
Fore s t E nt e r p r i s e Scotland’s community ranger, Eilidh Malcolm, said: “We’ve received such great support from the local community that we hope everyone comes along and joins in the day and gets to know their neighbours a bit more. It will be a great way for us to get to know our visitors a bit more too.
“Cuningar Loop is all about bringing the community together which reflects what the Big Lunch is all about.
“I t ’s the perfect opportunity for us to get involved with such a great project. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone.”
Families who forget a lunch can enjoy some food at the The Wee Cabin café on the site.
Celebrating its seventh year, the Big Lunch encourages communities to come together in their streets, gardens or community spaces to have lunch with their neighbours.
Access to Cuningar Loop is from Downiebrae Road in Rutherglen.
