Wa­ter won­der­ful life­sav­ing achieve­ment

Glas­gow Life, who run Castlemilk Swim­ming Pool, have been short­listed for the UK’s most im­por­tant awards in wa­ter safety.

The or­gan­i­sa­tion beat com­pe­ti­tion from across the UK to be se­lected as one of the fi­nal­ists for the pres­ti­gious Royal Life Sav­ing So­ci­ety UK (RLSS UK) and IQL UK Awards 2016.

The awards recog­nise and cel­e­brate the vi­tal con­tri­bu­tion that cen­tres make to wa­ter safety and drown­ing preven­tion.

Glas­gow Life has been nom­i­nated for the Multi-Site Ap­proved Train­ing Cen­tre Award for its com­mit­ment to train­ing and de­vel­op­ing pool life­guards as well as for its work in pro­mot­ing wa­ter safety in the lo­cal com­mu­nity.

The cen­tres de­liver a range of safety cour­ses for peo­ple of all ages, in­clud­ing Rookie Life­guard and Junior First Aid ses­sion for pri­mary school chil­dren dur­ing the school hol­i­days, and life­sav­ing train­ing for the over 50s.

Martin Sym­cox, di­rec­tor of IQL UK said:“We have been over­whelmed by the qual­ity of en­trants to this year’s awards and con­grat­u­late Glas­gow Life on reach­ing the fi­nals of the com­pe­ti­tion.”

The win­ners will be an­nounced at the RLSS UK & IQL UK Awards 2016, held on Fri­day , July 1, at Staver­ton Park in Daven­try.
