Myster y remains over care home death
The death of a woman who passed away while taking a bath at a care home for people with learning difficulties is being treated as “unexplained” by police.
The 59-year-old resident of Cherry Tree Court home in Cambuslang, was found at 7.55am on Friday.
The £ 2.2million Cherry Tree Court complex opened seven years ago with 12 apartments designed to give former long- term hospital stay patients a better quality of life.
Officers say they are working with social workers and the Care Commission in a joint investigation.
A Po l i c e S c o t l a n d spokeswoman said: “Around 7.55am on Friday, June 10 police were called to the Cherry Tree Court care home, West Coats Road, Cambuslang, following the death of a 59-year-old female resident.
“A post mortem is due to take place to establish the cause of her death, which at this time officers are treating as unexplained.
“A joint investigation between police, South Lanarkshire Council social work department and the Care Commission is ongoing.”
A post mortem will be carried out to confirm the cause of death.
