Trinity pupils honoured for work as ambassadors
Trinity High School pupils have been honoured for their work in helping youngsters decide what career they would like to take.
Nine senior pupils at the school acted as My World of Work school ambassadors over the last year.
The role involved them working closely with Skills Development Scotland’s Stephen Mann to develop the digital My World of Work platform to feedback their thoughts on how to make it more user friendly for students of their age.
They also previewed some of the My World of Work materials for their younger colleagues in the primary sector, both at information evenings at Trinity and also in some of the associated primaries.
Trinity head teacher Mr Peter Bollen accepted a plaque from Stephen Mann in recognition and appreciation of the work undertaken by the pupils.
Mr Bollen said: “This was a fantastic opportunity for our young people to become involved with Skills Development Scotland, whose work is of vital importance in the Developing the Young Workforce agenda.
“Our young people spoke very highly of the new digital platform and were very complimentary about the experience of being ambassadors in terms of their communication and interpersonal skills.
“I would like to congratulate them for representing the school in such a positive way and also thank Stephen Mann of Skills Development Scotland for the opportunity he gave the pupils to participate in the programme.
“Our colleagues in the primary sector have been very complimentary about the contribution Mr Mann and Skills Development Scotland made to their World of Work days and also about the way in which Trinity pupils acted as mentors and role models on these days.”
He added: “I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate the ambassadors for the very positive way in which they represented Trinity High School and wish them well as they enter the wider wold of college, university and work.”
