Po­lice hunt four af­ter Fern­hill at­tack

A man needed hospi­tal treat­ment af­ter be­ing at­tacked in Fern­hill in the early hours of Sun­day morn­ing.

The 45-year-old was taken to the Queen El­iz­a­beth II Uni­ver­sity Hospi­tal af­ter the in­ci­dent, which took place near his Castle­fern Road home.

He was later re­leased from hospi­tal.

Po­lice are now hunt­ing a gang of four males who car­ried out the at­tack some­time be­tween 1am and 2am on Sun­day, June 19.

It is not clear if a weapon was used.

A spokesper­son for Ruther­glen Po­lice said: “Be­tween 1am and 2am on Sun­day, June 19, 2016 a 45- year- old male was walk­ing from his home ad­dress on Castle­fern Road, Ruther­glen near to the junc­tion with Col­vend Drive when he was as­saulted by four un­known males.

“The males are de­scribed as white Scot­tish, aged be­tween 30- 40 years, wear­ing dark cloth­ing.

“We would ap­peal to any­one who ob­served the in­ci­dent or has any de­tails in re­la­tion to this to con­tact us on 101.”
