A new 3,000 sq ft gym is set to open in Rutherglen.

Planning officers last week gave the go- ahead for the change of use of two existing units on Cathcart Road from general industry to sports injury clinic and associated gym.

Sports Life Work, who are behind the plan, hope to open the facility on July 9.

The company, who are based in the Parkhead area of Glasgow, say on their website they “strive to provide the best support, rehabilitation and training a client can ask for.”

Although they focus of the business is the injury clinic, owner Kat Clark hopes the gym will be a success with local residents.

She said: “We are hoping to attract as many athletes as possible to the facility but there will also be plenty there for your average Joe Bloggs as well.

“It is a great location. Rutherglen does not have anything like this and it is easy access for my clients.

“We’re hopeful it will attract locals.”
