Work­shops will en­sure best start to school

Spe­cial work­shops to help par­ents en­sure their chil­dren get the best pos­si­ble start to school life are be­ing held in Ruther­glen and Cam­bus­lang.

For all chil­dren en­ter­ing P1 in Au­gust, the school tran­si­tion work­shops are de­signed to help young­sters make the step up to pri­mary school.

They are run by lo­cal ed­u­ca­tion staff, Project 31 and South La­nark­shire Coun­cil’s cul­ture and leisure de­part­ment and in­clude sto­ry­telling, arts and crafts and out­door ac­tiv­i­ties.

Each child will be given a Start­ing School Pack, whilst par­ents will be en­cour­aged to take an ac­tive role in their child’s school­ing.

Morn­ing and af­ter­noon work­shops will be held at Burgh Pri­mary School, Ruther­glen, on July 12 and at James Ai­ton Pri­mary, Cam­bus­lang, on July 21.
