Rutherglen Reformer - - News - Douglas Dickie

Parents in Rutherglen and Cambuslang looking to keep their children occupied during the summer holidays can take advantage of nearly 80 sessions run by Project 31.

The group have just released details of their Summer Fun programme for 2016.

All the activities are free of charge and cover the whole seven-week holiday period.

They include a wide range of sports, arts, play, outdoor learning and forest school.

Weekly themes include ‘celebrate summer,’‘wild about woodland’and ‘crazy carnival’.

Session locations include Overtoun and Cambuslang Parks, Stonelaw and Holmhills Woods and the Springhall, Westburn and Whitlawburn play parks and Burnhill pitches.

A number of partners will be involved in the programme, including R:evolve, Home School Partnership, Active Schools, Friends of Cambuslang Park and the South Lanarkshire Council rangers.

The sessions are suitable for children aged up to 12.

Project 31 manager, Lorna Bamford can’t wait to get started and is looking forward to the summer session.

She said:“We’re looking forward to another brilliant summer of activity, with everything from Forest School week to Toys and Tales with R:evolve, Sports Day and a party for Harry Potter’s birthday.

“The summer is such a great time for children and families to make memories that last a lifetime and there are lots of opportunities within our holiday programme to do that!

“As always, our activities are totally free of charge making them accessible to all so we’re hoping to see lots of new families coming along as well as lots of our regular Project 31 friends.”
