Eco week at West Coats

Pupils at West Coats Pri­mary School have gone green af­ter cel­e­brat­ing their eco week.

Lo­cal com­pa­nies came in to teach the young­sters about look­ing af­ter the en­vi­ron­ment and keep­ing healthy while some of them worked hard to gen­er­ate elec­tric­ity us­ing a bi­cy­cle.

David McCutheon of Bul­let Ex­press, went to West Coats to speak to the chil­dren about a school he helped build in Malawi.

And through­out the week, the chil­dren en­joyed a num­ber of other ac­tiv­i­ties such as scavenger hunts, out­door walks, quizzes and re­cy­cling chal­lenges.

Wildly Wise, a lo­cal com­pany, came and built bug ho­tels with the younger chil­dren while classes en­joyed vis­it­ing the pri­mary one pod, where they in­cu­bated eggs and hatched five duck­lings.

Chil­dren also en­joyed some ses­sions from Cam­bus­lang Rugby Club and the den­tal nurse went to speak to the chil­dren about oral health.
