Ac­cused de­nies abuse against wo­man and a vi­cious as­sault

A man ac­cused of un­leash­ing a tirade of phys­i­cal abuse against a wo­man in Ruther­glen will stand trial to­mor­row, June 30.

David Wil­liam Black is ac­cused of throw­ing con­tain­ers of liq­uid at the wo­man, fol­low­ing her home, seiz­ing a tele­phone from her hand, grab­bing her by the hair and re­peat­edly punch­ing her on the head on March 20, 2016.

Black, of Rich­mond Place, is also ac­cused of be­hav­ing in a threat­en­ing and abu­sive man­ner by re­peat­edly kick­ing a door, shout­ing, swear­ing and throw­ing a tele­phone against a wall.

The 37-year-old ac­cused de­nied all of the charges against him when he ap­peared at Glas­gow Sher­iff Court on June 17.

Bail was con­tin­ued.
