Where the cash has been go­ing over the years

A to­tal of £3.2mil­lion has been gen­er­ated in com­mu­nity gain fund­ing in Cam­bus­lang be­tween 2002 and 2015.

Handed over by devel­op­ers build­ing houses in the town, the cash has been used to up­grade West­burn Hall and Peter Brown­lie Park.

Al­most £100,000 was spent on im­prove­ments to play ar­eas in West Whit­law­burn be­tween 2007 and 2009 and traf­fic man­age­ment works in the area saw £253,000 in in­vest­ment.

Across the town, £325,000 has been gen­er­ated for af­ford­able hous­ing to be built in the next five years, with some of the cash al­ready used to de­liver af­ford­able homes in Fern­hill in 2016/17.

In 2015 alone, £530,000 was gen­er­ated in Cam­bus­lang in com­mu­nity gain cash out­with the New­ton Growth Area. South La­nark­shire Coun­cil say that cash will be spent on education, af­ford­able hous­ing and com­mu­nity fa­cil­i­ties.
