The weather wasn’t the only thing that stayed dry on Saturday at Newton Gala Day.

Thirsty residents ensured the beer tent at the annual event sold out long before the festivities came to a close as the community rallied once more.

The annual event in Newton Community Park has become one of the highlights of the calendar and the 2016 edition proved to be no different.

As well as the beer tent, locals enjoyed the various rides, stalls, pony rides and music.

Newton Village Residents Association social convener, Jeanette Adam said:“It was a really great day and the weather stayed dry.

“Every time I looked the park was mobbed and more people just kept streaming in. There was a constant flow of people.”
