Police crack down on drink driving
More than 8,000 drivers have been breathalysed by police in Lanarkshire as police roll out their summer safety campaign.
Run by Police Lanarkshire between June 3 and 17, the two-week initiative aimed to crackdown on drink and drug drivers and raise awareness amongst those attending barbecues and summer garden parties.
Officers found 299 drivers to be over the limit. This equates to one in 27 drivers caught with alcohol in their system.
Police say just one drink could put a person over the limit and have recommended people avoid alcohol entirely if they are driving.
