Bank raid

A man made off with a four­fig­ure sum af­ter raid­ing a bank on Stonelaw Road yes­ter­day, Tues­day, af­ter­noon.

Wit­nesses re­ported see­ing 10 po­lice cars swoop in on the Royal Bank of Scot­land branch af­ter a male wear­ing a bright or­ange jacket and white bag threat­ened staff at around 3.40pm.

The area was cor­doned off from the Bet­fred book­mak­ers to High­burgh Drive.

Po­lice say the sus­pect left the premises with a ‘sub­stan­tial’ amount of money be­fore mak­ing off in the di­rec­tion of Tesco. Staff were un­harmed.

He is de­scribed as wear­ing a bal­a­clava, a bright or­ange jacket with a logo on the left side, dark hooded top and jeans and held a white bag.
