Bank raid

-

A man made off with a fourfigure sum after raiding a bank on Stonelaw Road yesterday, Tuesday, afternoon.

Witnesses reported seeing 10 police cars swoop in on the Royal Bank of Scotland branch after a male wearing a bright orange jacket and white bag threatened staff at around 3.40pm.

The area was cordoned off from the Betfred bookmakers to Highburgh Drive.

Police say the suspect left the premises with a ‘substantial’ amount of money before making off in the direction of Tesco. Staff were unharmed.

He is described as wearing a balaclava, a bright orange jacket with a logo on the left side, dark hooded top and jeans and held a white bag.
