Fun day ends hols
Families in Whitlawburn are being invited to mark the end of summer holidays with a free family fun day tomorrow, Thursday.
Organised by The Young Ones Youth Club, the event includes a rodeo bull, bouncy castles for children and toddlers, adult and child sumo suits and five-a-side football tournament, run by Utd Sports.
Youngsters can also get their faces painted and have their picture taken alongside their heroes including Spider Man, Darth Vadar and Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
Kicking off at noon at Whitlawburn Community Resource Centre, all activities at the event are free and have been funded via a grant from South Lanarkshire Council’s Participatory Budget.
Michael Hall, of Universal Connections, which runs the youth club, said: “This is to round off the kids summer holidays and the weekly trips which we have been taking 20 or more children on from the start of the summer.
“It will bring the whole community together, people of all ages, including the children’s families and friends, who wouldn’t normally be at the youth club.
“There is no cost at all to anyone wishing to come along and take part between midday and 4pm.”
Community groups including CamGlen Radio, Healthy n’ Happy and Revolve Upcycle clothing will also be there to show the community what they do to support local people and also the environment.
The fun day will be followed by a wrestling extravaganza as Michael has booked the Reckless Intent wrestling team to do a live wrestling show from 6pm to 8.30pm.
