We did enough to win

-

Paul McColl was left gutted as Cambuslang’s concentration lapse cost them a second win in a row over their rivals.

He said:“They’re a Super League team and we’ve matched them. It is not a bad thing but it feels as though we’ve been beaten. They came into the second half and punished us with a couple of mistakes.

“The marking could have been better because it was a free header and the second was a strike and a half but he has run a few yards and somebody should have stopped him. It was a great strike and I can’t take anything away from the boy.

“It was actually a good game. The boys are all gutted with being 2-0 up with less than ten minutes to go and not winning the game. The shape changed, Boylan was clattered and Macleod was tired so you needed to change it and put some boys on and sometimes that screws the game up.

“It was an entertaining game. I thought we were the better team but Glencairn were decent in the second half. We did enough to win but I’m gutted we didn’t.

“Kerr was outstanding at 21 years old and so was Bishop. Savarese was working so hard he couldn’t walk with ten minutes left.

“We’ll take that performance into Wednesday. Vale of Clyde have signed some good players so it will not be an easy game on a tight park.”
