A war­rant has been is­sued for a Ruther­glen man who al­legedly stole more than £21,000 from his mother.

Paul James Carmichael has been charged with com­mit­ting bank fraud on a se­ries of dates be­tween Fe­bru­ary 14, 2013, and June 12, 2014.

The 45 year old is ac­cused of set­ting up an in­ter­net bank­ing ac­count in his mother’s name and us­ing the on­line ac­count to elec­tron­i­cally trans­fer sums of money be­tween ac­counts be­long­ing to his mother. He is also ac­cused of trans­fer­ring £21,440.47 from her ac­counts to his own.

Carmichael was due to an­swer the fraud charge dur­ing a hear­ing at Glas­gow Sher­iff Court on Au­gust 9 but failed to ap­pear. A war­rant has been is­sued for his ar­rest.
